Alexandro Mussolini (born the in Montemaggiore di Predappio, in the current province of Forlì-Cesena, then located in the Papal States and died on December 1910 1910 in Forlì) is an Italian revolutionary socialist activist, close to libertarian ideas. He is the father of the founder of fascism and politician and Italian dictator, Benito Mussolini.

Alessandro Mussolini entered politics in 1873 at the age of nineteen as a revolutionary socialist activist. In 1874, Mussolini took part in political unrest in Predappio. Mussolini combined his political activities with his trade as a blacksmith.

It aroused the interest of police services that do not like it as “dangerous to society and public safety” he was subjected to various searches and in 1878 made six months of prison. On January 25, 1882, he married the teacher Rosa Maltoni. His activity included writing short articles for Romagnola socialist journals: La Lotta, Il Sole dell’avvenire, Il Pensiero Romagnolo. In 1882 he played a decisive role in the election as deputy for Andrea Costa, one of the first two Italian Socialists to sit in the House.

In 1889, Predappio’s socialists entered the municipal council and Alessandro became deputy mayor. In July 1902, following clashes between supporters of various municipal candidates against Dovia, although he was a stranger to the affair, he was sent to prison for six months. Judged by the Forlì Assize Court, he was acquitted, but the detention contributed to the deterioration of his health. It was then that, his wife having died, Alessandro left his native village to become an innkeeper in Forlì where he died in 1910, having abandoned all political activity.
